‘Alien: Earth’ Sets Premiere Date, Releases New Images

Alien: Earth

In 2020, Disney announced they were developing an expansion of the Alien universe that would bring the property to the small screen. Five years later, we finally have some major movement to report. Hulu, in partnership with the FX network, has announced an impending release date for the new series, titled Alien: Earth, and even shared some stills for good measure!

The cable channel and the streamer will each broadcast the first two episodes of Alien: Earth, which is a prequel to Alien, on August 12, 2025, at 8 PM Eastern. The show’s first season consists of a total of eight episodes, with the remaining six installments airing on both platforms on Tuesday nights in the same time slot. Disney+ will handle international distribution of the upcoming series.

If you’re keen for a peek at the visual aesthetic of the upcoming program, you can scope a sampling of the newly released images in the gallery at the bottom of this post.

Official series synopsis per IMDb: When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat.

Noah Hawley (the Fargo cable adaptation) is the series creator and serves as its showrunner. He also executive produces and takes a writing credit on each episode. Speaking of executive producers, fans will be pleased to know that Alien franchise OG Ridley Scott will also take an EP credit on the program. It’s nice to know that Scott is involved, however, I like the idea of a new creator stepping in with fresh ideas. This may well turn out to be a ‘best of both worlds’ scenario.

The program features a large ensemble cast that includes Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Alex Lawther, Kit Young, David Rysdahl, Adarsh Gourav, Babou Ceesay, Erana James, Jonathan Ajayi, Lily Newmark, Diêm Camille, and Adrian Edmondson.
